Springy Links

Following are some neat places you might want to check out Spring, Summer, Winter or Fall.

Links For All Seasons

These links are organized in terms of the person in our family who likes them. So reading this section should really tell you a lot about our personalities!

Sammy's favorite links (Okay, I confess, I like them too.):

Now, my personal favorites these days are technical web programming sites. Would you like to know how I learned HTML?

I also frequent sites which offer cool downloads and free stuff. Lockergnome is an awesome site and newsletter which points the way to so many places on the web I would miss otherwise.

Perry only checks out about three places on the web:

And Roni always goes for the WWF site.

So, how did Becky make this web site?

Practice, practice, practice.

But seriously... First I did a search on web programming. The absolute best site I have found, after spending countless hours reading about HTML online, is Joe Burns' HTML Goodies site. He teaches technical skills in layman's terms. (He has also put his tutorials in book form, so that you can reference them off-line as well -- Author Link: Joe Burns .)

I also used the totally excellent, easy to read and follow book, Teach Yourself HTML 4 in 24 Hours by Dick Oliver and Molly Holzschlag. This book covers everything you need to know to make a really decent homepage, including javascript and style sheets -- two very important aspects of non-static, visually interesting websites.

And then, practice, practice, practice.

I started selling My items on eBay items on eBay, treating each like a separate web page. This taught me formatting with tables. (Not to mention earning me some cash.)

I downloaded some software: an HTML editor (after using my Windows notepad for awhile), and graphics software. I also bought a scanner.

And then, practice, practice, practice.

My flower children were created from scanned photos of my own beautiful daughters, and from images used from The Print Shop Ensemble III, software I've had since 1997. You can download software and images from the Brxderbund/The Learning Company site.

The most fun part comes from using Paint Shop Pro to edit the original images. You can download a trial version right from Jasc, the makers of Paint Shop Pro. Download Paint Shop ProThey have tutorials at their homepage, as well as links to other tutorial sites. Download your own copy from this link.

And then you should "Practice, practice, practice!"

Last, but not least, I got my counter and guestbook from BeSeen.com. You can visit them from this link. Beseen.com If you have time, how about writing me a little something....
